Health Problems

Sorry I have been away. I have had some health problems and I have been putting just about everything else on hold. Being a little vain I had something on my forehead that I thought was ugly. I went to my dermatologist and he removed it. A couple of weeks later I found out that it was basal cell carcinoma and that I had to have Mohs surgery to have it removed. Last Tuesday I went in for the Mohs surgery. I was really thinking no big deal. It ended up being a big deal. Basal cell grows many little fingers in the skin and the one I had really grew outward. I now have a big z cut with many stitches on my forehead. This up coming Tuesday I get the stitches out. I'm very glad this is now behind me and I really hope I don't end up with more. Please make sure to go to your dermatologist yearly and have your skin looked at.

Welcome back ~ So sorry to hear about your skin cancer experience! I actually just had my 6 month Derm check-up this morning! Another biopsy on my back (looks to be very small spot this time). I've had several basal cells on my face, but also had a squamous cell right above my lip ~ plastic surgeon had to cut all the way through my lip when they were done in order to stitch it back together properly! It really healed well and most people don't even see it! I kept insisting this little spot was more than just an irritation and finally they agreed to biopsy when they had found another basal cell on my forehead! Thank Goodness! If you feel something is just not right with a spot or an irritation, then INSIST that they biopsy it! Better safe than sorry! Heal well!

Thanks for your comment. You are so right that if anyone feels something isn't right insist that they look at it. My spot when they took it off to biopsy they said it was nothing. And it was something. Glad to hear you healed so good. Stay healthy and thanks again for the comment.
