I have had several friends in the past couple of months tell me that they were going to get a Brazilian Blowout. I had no clue of what they were talking about. I was told that is would straighten their hair. I really didn't think much about it. I have straight hair so nothing I would need. Then one morning on a morning show they were talking about Brazilian Blowouts and how sick it is making people. That some hair stylist and the person receiving the treatment are wearing gas masks. The problem is there is a high level of formaldehyde in the solution.
Okay after that I had to know more. I found out that a Brazilian Blowout kinda straightens hair and it will make it look shiny. If you have fuzzy hair it will take that out. The treatment only lasts about 10-12 weeks then your hair will return to the way it was before. I since have asked my friends what they think and they love it. They feel their hair has never looked better. I really didn't notice but after looking closer I think their hair does look healthier.
From what I have read on the internet the Brazilian Blowout has been banded in Canada. The company is saying that there really isn't formaldehyde in the solution. There has been many reports to the FDA about people getting sick from the smell. Below is a link to what the FDA has on the Brazilian Blowout.
I'm sure I'm not going out anytime soon to get one. Heck I only get my hair cut once a year. I love a day at the salon but I just don't take the time like I use to.
